1. General Guidelines

a. Only Greenbrook residents and their guests are permitted to use the tennis courts.

b. No use or activity except tennis is permitted on the courts.

c. Non-playing children are strictly prohibited from courts during play.

d. Tennis shoes must be worn on the courts.

e. No bicycles, skateboards or roller blades are permitted on the courts.

f. Players are required to observe tennis courtesies, as well as rules of good conduct on and around the courts.

g. All tennis ball/baskets machines must be used on court 4. Court 4 may only be used with ball baskets/machines when court three is not in use. Due to the close proximity of our courts, courtesy and safety dictate that no more than two cans of balls be in use when there is play on an adjoining court.

2. Sign-in and Priority Guidelines

a. All players must sign in at the commencement of play. Players not signed in will relinquish court upon request. Players may not sign in again to extend their playing time until the end of their then current allotted time.

b. Players waiting must sign in on the board provided and remain at courtside. Players leaving the immediate vicinity will lose their place on the waiting board. Doubles should be played whenever players are waiting.

c. If only one person of a group is present when it is their turn to take a court that group will yield to the next group and wait until at least two people are present before taking the next available court.

d. Use of the backboard at the end of court four must be relinquished if players wish to use the court.

e. Weekdays play (until 6 p.m.). Adults and juniors (under 18) have use of all four courts and have the same waiting priority.

f. Weekends, Federal Legal Holidays, Weekdays (after 6 p.m.). Juniors must relinquish courts 1, 2 and 3 to waiting adults unless playing with a Greenbrook resident adult. Juniors need not relinquish court 4 to waiting adults until the one-hour time is concluded. Juniors have waiting priority for court 4.

3. Time Allotment

a. All players are to retire at the end of one hour if other players are waiting. Players must re-sign onto a court at the conclusion of their one-hour play.

b. Exceptions

* Challenges (See Section 5 below)
* Doubles play on Sunday is 1.5 hours. To qualify, match must start and be completed by the same players.

4. Scheduled Court Time

a. All organized tennis activities (see “Organized Tennis Activities” information) must have TAC (Tennis Advisory Committee) approval. All organized activities are posted monthly on the TAC calendar at courtside.

b. Organized tennis activity (other than an all-community events) will not be scheduled during the following times:
* Tuesday and Thursday evenings after 5:00 p.m.

* Saturdays before noon.
* Only one (1) USTA match may be played on Sunday.

c. During scheduled events, one (1) court must always be left open. The only exception is for all-community events (e.g. Team Tennis).

d. For all organized tennis events, participation must be 100% Greenbrook residents. Any exception to this rule must have approval of TAC.

e. A maximum of five (5) USTA teams may be formed to play during the same season. The intent is that each team plays half their matches at Greenbrook courts and half at other courts (information about USTA play may be obtained from the USTA coordinator).

5. Challenges

 a. Only ladder challenges between Greenbrook residents may exceed the allotted one-hour playing time.

b. No more than one challenge match may be in progress, on the courts, at any given time.

c. No challenges will be played on court 4 on weekends or after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.

d. Challenge players must note “challenge” beside their names on the sign-up board.

6. Tennis Lessons

a. All instructors are considered to be a guest of a resident, and all general, sign-in/priority and time allotment rules must be adhered to, unless the TAC has given prior approval for a one time scheduled court time.

b. All instructors must sign an indemnity waiver before giving lessons, which may be obtained from the Homeowner’s Liaison in the clubhouse office during business hours.
