POOL RULES ADOPTED 5/13/2026
1)HOURS
The pool schedule, including hours of operation with and without lifeguards, is determined annually by the Board of Directors. The pool schedule is published on the Greenbrook Homeowners website and is posted at the pool (add QR Code). Swimming is permitted during designated pool hours only. The pool schedule is subject to change due to staffing, weather, attendance, or for safety reasons.
The Greenbrook Homes Association Inc. intends to staff the pool with lifeguards daily during the peak summer season and on weekends during the shoulder seasons. A sign near the pool gates indicates when lifeguards are on duty.
a)Family Swim (swim at your own risk, NO lifeguard on duty)
A “swim at your own risk” policy is in effect when lifeguards are NOT on duty. All children under 18years old must be accompanied by an adult when no lifeguard is on duty.
b)Guarded Family Swim (lifeguard on duty)
When lifeguards are on duty, children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult. An exception is made for children 8-14 years old who have qualified for a “G” badge. All children who have not reached their 8th birthday must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Children ages 8 to 14 years old who have a “G” badge privilege must sign in with a lifeguard and must have a current emergency card on file to swim without being accompanied by an adult. See Section 3 for“G” Badge.
c)Adult Lap Swim (swim at your own risk, NO lifeguard on duty)
Adult members who want to use the pool during adult lap swim hours must sign a risk acknowledgment and release agreement before their key FOB will be programmed to allow access during these hours. During Adult Lap Swim, no person under 18 years old is allowed in the pool area.

2)GENERAL CONDUCT
The Pool Rules should be followed at all times to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable family-focused experience for all Greenbrook members and their guests.
a)When the pool is open, the pool area is accessed only through the locked entrance gates using a key FOB.Greenbrook homeowners and/or tenants on title/lease may obtain a key FOB from the office to access the pool area.
b)Do not hold open the entrance gates to allow multiple groups to enter. Each member must swipe their keyfob each time they enter. This allows proper record-keeping of those using the pool area.
c)No glass objects are allowed on the pool deck or in the pool area.
d)No food or drink (of any kind) shall be consumed while in the pool OR on the pool’s edge. Food and drinks may be consumed on the grass areas or at picnic tables. All trash/recycling must be placed in the containers provided.
e)Swimmers must wear swimwear. No cutoffs or street clothes are allowed in the pool.
f)Babies and toddlers must wear swim diapers in either pool. No cloth or paper diapers.
g)Rinse sand off before entering the pools (after play in the tot playground or volleyball court)
h)No dives of any kind in shallow water (depths less than 6 feet, marked by “no diving” tiles).
i)One lane is reserved for adult lap swimming. Stay out of the lap lane when lap swimmers are present.
j)Persons with communicable diseases, diarrhea,(within 14 days) open sores, or skin infections are not allowed in the pool.
k)Place trash/recycle in containers, stack chairs, and close umbrellas before leaving the pool area.
l)When lifeguards are on duty:
1)Lifeguard instructions will be obeyed promptly.
2)Hourly rest periods will be called by the lifeguard approximately every hour for 15 minutes.
3)During rest periods, the pool will be cleared of all persons below the age of 18 years, except babies in arms.
4)After a long blast from the lifeguard’s whistle, all persons will clear the pool to a distance of at least 5
feet from the pool edge. No one may re-enter the pool until the lifeguard indicates that swimming
may resume.
5)A short blast from the lifeguard’s whistle indicates a hazardous condition. Look to the lifeguard!
6)Artificial flotation devices are not permitted in the pool. Exception: the lifeguard on duty may allow children 5 years and under to use lifeguard-approved flotation devices when accompanied by and under the supervision and control of an adult. These flotation devices must not impede the lifeguard’s view of other swimmers.
7)Snorkels, masks, goggles, fins, and balls may be allowed at the discretion of the lifeguard.
8)Unnecessary conversation with lifeguards or loitering near the lifeguard stand.
In addition, the following are prohibited at all times:
m)Running on the pool deck.
n)Contact that is hazardous to oneself or others, such as wrestling, dunking, pushing, or throwing others in the pool.
o)Inappropriate language.
p)Spitting or chewing gum.
q)Sitting or hanging on lane ropes.
r)Playing on ladders.
s)Pretending to drown or being in need of attention.
t)Climbing on the lifeguard stands.
u)Smoking or vaping.
v)Loud music.
w)Bicycles, scooters, skates, and skateboards in the pool area.
x)Baby carriages, strollers, wheelchairs, playpens, etc. must be kept at least 15 feet from the pool edge.
y)Pets in the pool area.
z)Playing or lounging on the ADA pool lift. It is intended for use by individuals with disabilities.
3)“G” BADGE (Greenbrook Badge) or equivalent identification
Parents of children who have reached their 8th birthday and are not yet 14 years old may apply to have their child tested for the “G” badge. The application and emergency contact card must be submitted to the lifeguard on duty. The test includes knowledge of the pool rules, the ability to tread water for 2 minutes, float on their back for 2 minutes, and swim 25 yards unassisted without a push-off. Children who pass the test will be given a “G” badge. The “G” badge must be on the swimmer at all times (identification FOB Wrist Bracelet). The “G” badge swimmer must sign in with the lifeguard each time they are not accompanied by an adult. The emergency card must be updated each year. When lifeguards are not on duty, children with “G” badges must be accompanied by an adult.
4)DIVING AREA
a)Swimming is not permitted in the diving area beyond the “diamond tile markers” (other than recovering from dives).
b)Only one person is allowed on a diving board or ladder at one time. Wait until the preceding diver swims clear before diving.
c)All dives must be straight ahead off boards. Only one bounce per dive is allowed.
d)Sit-down dives are not permitted.
e)Hanging from the underside of the diving board is not permitted.
f)Flips and Back dives are not permitted off the side of the pool.
g)Cannonballs and can-openers are permitted at the lifeguard’s discretion.
5)WADING POOL
a)Children over the age of 5 years old are not permitted in the wading pool.
b)Children in the wading pool are the responsibility of the parents, not of the lifeguard.
6)BARBECUE USE AREA
c)Barbecue users are responsible for cleanup and disposing of waste in the appropriate containers.
d)Remove ashes and place the “metal ash can” after each use. Do not place ashes in trash containers.
e)Barbecues must not block walkways.
f)Barbecues must be at least 10 feet from combustible surfaces (including building, overhangs, and trees).
6)GUESTS
Guests must be accompanied by an adult Greenbrook member, who shall be responsible for familiarizing their guests with the pool rules and will be accountable for their guests’ conduct. Greenbrook homeowners and/or tenants on title/lease are allowed up to five (5) guests at a time, but must accompany their guests when in the pool area. Children of homeowners, who are actively living in their Greenbrook residence and are over the age of 18 years, are allowed to bring two (2) guests with them to the pool area. An adult must accompany all non-Greenbrook guests under the age of 18 years old at all times.
7)ENFORCEMENT
Any violation of the rules may result in suspension of the privilege to use the Greenbrook Pool.
When lifeguards are on duty, the lifeguard is in charge of the pool and is required to enforce the rules. Lifeguard instructions must be obeyed promptly. Any person failing to obey the instructions from the lifeguard will be required to leave the pool area and may have their pool privileges suspended. In the event of suspension, a letter containing the reason for and length of suspension will be mailed to the homeowner.
When the pool is open, but no lifeguards are on duty, members and their guests “swim at their own risk”. All pool rules remain in effect. Any person failing to obey the pool rules is subject to suspension of pool privileges. During this time, no person under 18 is allowed in the pool area without the direct supervision of an adult.
If illegal activity is observed, behavior problems persist, or expulsion is resisted, the lifeguard, manager, or designee is required to contact the Danville Police Department (non-emergency 925-820-2144; emergency 911)and either the HOA On-Site Manager (925-837-3024) or the HOA Manager (925-830-4848).
If a disturbance is created at the facilities such that law enforcement is summoned, access to the pool area will be suspended for the entire summer.
*Please note that the Adult Lap Swim Policy supersedes specific rules that may conflict with the Pool Rules.
